Crafter's Tips

When you begin your journey in crafting you learn different things and you craft by them. Lol I want to share with you a few things that I learned that can perhaps help you as well.

1. Throw nothing away!

Okay, you can throw the plastic wrapper away if you see no need for it and the price tag. Lol After you have used the amount of the item you purchased, keep the remaining amounts even if at the moment you see no need for them. There may a craft in the future that the very things you kept you can use. Always remember the three R's of crafting: Recycle, Reuse, and Repurpose.

2. Do not shop for crafts in season!

Wait til the season is over and catch those 60-80% off sales. Out of season is way more cheaper purchase than in season. Think future, some people only like to buy in the present and there is nothing wrong with that but if you want to save wait until the season has past and use those crafts for the next time that particular season rolls around.

3. Check the web for coupons!

Many craft stores have sign ups to earn points per purchase to receive  coupons, it helps a lot. Don't be anxious to just get it, get it, get it, just wait unless you are time constraint and need it right then and there.

4. Check for things on Clearance!

5. Plan ahead!

Don't be last minute because it will hinder your opportunity to scout for the best price and savings on all the items you need for your craft.

6. Buy in bulk!

It's easy to run out of simple things that you need to pull your craft project together. Things like hot glue and cool glue. Keep an excess of glue sticks and craft glue.

7. Think outside the box!

Have you ever seen something in the store and just because you didn't have a use for it right then and there you walk passed it? I know I have and then when I would go back to the store to get it after I discovered something I could make that I could now use the item for the store was out of the item. Now, when I see little do dads and items I think what I could possible use them for  and I get them just in case. Keep your receipt you can also take it back for a refund if you don't use it.

8. Buy things with repurpose usage!

Don't just buy things or chose certain colors for just one season or or one particular project. Try to choose things that you can use for multiple seasons and or projects. Certain colors and items can be used in many different ways.

9. Getting an early start on your crafts if you need them for a coming holiday, party or Event helps avoid panic and rush later!

These are just a few tips I have shared, you will learn more helpful things along the way. Always pace yourself to avoid stress and do a little each day. I start preparing things way in advance and put them up to cut down on my to do list if I have an event or party coming up. I dislike being rushed and trying to throw things together last minute. I like to be able to pick and choose exactly what I want and what I need for whatever I envision making. I have always been a planner. Right now I am working on Mother's Day stuff and my Open House date is not until the end of April. More time less to do in the long run so that I can enjoy the festivities along with my attendees.

10. Organization!

Having things in order and within reach helps crafting move along quicker and smoother. Have everything laid out before you start so that you will not get frustrated trying to find things that you thought were in a certain place. I like to be able to just do it. I don't like to much stopping and started or being distracted. I like to just get the job done after all there are other things in life in a day we have to do in conjunction with mapping out time to craft. I have a unit next to my craft table that I can keep my glue gun and gorilla glue, gems, diamond wrap, ribbons, etc. I have a shelf that I keep my containers with my glassware and flowers, etc. It helps to have a place for everything and everything in it place attitude. It can be hard at times and you do the best you can but the better you get at staying organized the more projects will flow from beginning to end in a quicker fashion.

All in all have fun with it and do all you can to make it easier on yourself and on your budget.  Have fun with it and just create!
