The Warmth of Wood

For two decades I have decorated country style. It is my first love of decorating. In 2018 I started switching over to Bohemian Style that soon lead to mixing in Afrocentric pieces. I have stuck with the Afro Boho style but during the holiday time my traditional style of decorating takes over and my spirit craves more of that warm holiday feel that I spent most of my life basking in during the months of November and December. I am an early holiday decorating and usually by October I am finished. Often in the last two months of the year I am changing things around in my already decorated home especially if I find things in stores that I like and want to display. This morning I brought down my trilevel wooden and metal table from upstairs to put some things on and free up the table that was in its place before the switch. I wanted to display some other things on that table in another location of my living room. I say all this to say that just by adding it to my space gave it such warm and cozy vibes. Glass just doesn't give me that warm feeling like wood does. I even purchased two new wooden tables and assembled them for the holiday to display stuff on. Believe it or not I am actually sitting here thinking about purchasing another small wooden table to go in front of my recliner and moving the small glass table that is presently there to another room.

I cant believe its only 22 days to Christmas. It is too close for me and I am getting a little misty eyed. I love the Christmas season and get a little sad when its almost over. As much as I love the reason for the holiday season the leading up to has always always been my favorite time. Once Thanksgiving comes and goes the outlook is different for me going forward and I feel like I am in a race to grab all of what is left of the holiday spirit before the 26th of December arrives. Yes, I am grateful to see a new year a week later but I wish time could slow up a little more during the Ber months, LOL.

I don't think I will ever loose my love of country decorating but I am going to continue to stick with my Afro Boho style and continue to just enjoy country decorating the last quarter of the year as I have been previous doing.

I always say surround yourself with what makes you smile.

Happy Decorating and Happy Holidays!
