Books, Plants and Flowers

My motto on this decorating journey has always been to walk in creativity and let your vision flourish. Create the space that you love enjoying each day within. Surround yourself with what makes you feel comfortable. I love a cozy, warm, inviting feeling. My vision this year is to be surrounded by warmth and light. A serene, soft look. If I wipe my slate clean, I would be left with neutral walls which is great. It is one of the things that attracted me from the moments before I got locked into a lease. I came into the home with pieces I already had from living elsewhere for a season. I came from decades of having a green and cream palette. In the beginning of living here I sort of wanted a black and white palette and to gradually omit the green. I ended up purchasing or painting a lot of things black, so I ended up with black and white or black and gold as my main primary colors. In December 2025 I already started refreshing my space in my mind and knew that the New Year was going to present a new look.

The first black piece I moved out of my living room was the tv cabinet. It was large and piece so not only did it darken the room but it black a lot of the white on the wall under my stairs. Moving this piece out opened the space in the room tremendously. It was a breath of fresh air having that wall open where light could flow through. I put my tv on a white wooden console table that I had in my dining room over the holiday. It was a perfect fit, and the shelf below provided a place for decor. I kept the black recliner in there because I didn't want to invest in a new one and to balance it I put a black bench across from it near the entryway of my home I swapped out my gold side tables and replace them with white wooden ones and I also added two white smaller tables at either end of my tv. My gold and glass coffee table remained as well as the gold tower in the corner next to the entryway of my home.  I used lighter brighter accents. I also used more books, plants and flower arrangements to fill the spaces in between. Hydrangeas have become my favorite flower with peonies right behind them. I still have love for Roses which you will also find amongst my decor. I changed the pillows on my couch to a creamy lighter pattern which made better contrast with my couch.  I absolutely love my space, I feel so comfortable in it.

See, its not about keeping up with trends or even decorating like the vast majority it’s about being you and creating a space that is significant in how you feel and provides mental and or spiritual comfort for you. Speaking from a spiritual perspective you will also find many inspirational accents throughout my home that shows my Faith and give you something to think about when you are visiting. God is present in here.

In this new year I hope to inspire you to be you and not be ashamed to be different and or stand out from amongst the majority and let your creativity flow and your vision flourish. I am most comfortable when I do so.

Happy Decorating!!!!!!!!!!
