Repurpose, Recycle, Reuse
Good Thursday afternoon, how is everyone? The weather for the past few days have been wet outside so I have been making use of time to get some things done inside. It seems as if there is always something to do. It is no secret that decorating is a passion of mine. 2026 bought on an interior design change so I have been locked into the redesign of my living and dining rooms. I really never do too much to the kitchen besides adding tea towels, pot holders and a book to out on my book stand on my kitchen counter. I might add a pop of spring to it later on, we'll see.
More than ever I have trained my thoughts into using what I already have and resisting impulsive purchasing. I wanted more light in my dining room on the side table next to the windows. I was tempted to buy a new set of lamps when I thought to myself why not use the ones you already have? I had a perfectly good set of gold lamps in my closet upstairs. I was going to purchase these buffet lamps I saw online with a gold base and a black shade. Ironically the lamps I used instead have the same gold base with black shades only they are a different style than the buffet lamps. The only thing I needed to order was new shade holders because the old ones had tarnished. I did so for $9 ergo saving myself an $80 subtraction from my pocket. The set of lamps I was eyeing are $90. I am so glad good sense kicked in because I think these lamps like fine and I can surely used the difference I saved for something else like a bill or groceries, lol.
Life still goes on outside of the thrill of designing or a desire for a home refresh, utilities and keeping a roof over your head are costly and are due month after month and it doesn't hurt to save a little pocket change for a raining day. These things take priority over a new piece of home decor especially in the times we are living in because we never know what is going to happen or change in this world from day to day. Most of us decorators have been acquiring stuff for years so shop your stash and don't let your decision be rash in making purchases to take the place of some things you already have and can find a new way to use them. I just change my porch flags and removed the winter ones and put up my ones for Spring. Enjoy the rest of your day. The weekend begins tomorrow. Talk to you in the next blog entry.
Happy Decorating!!!!!!!!
