Happy 11th day of Fall 2026
Finally Fall is here and has been for 11 days so far. The weather has been on a rollercoaster with some days feeling like Fall and some days feeling like Summer is trying to return. The rain seems to keep hanging on with a break here and there in between. I wonder what the weather in the latter part of Fall leading into winter will bring us.
Thanksgiving is 54 days away and Christmas 82. Home stylers are pulling pumpkins out for Fall and I have put mine away and replaced them with Christmas decor. Yes, my home is slowly being blanketed with Christmas. I love the lead up to the holidays so the transformation starts early little by little until I am done. I am starting to stock up on things pertaining to Thanksgiving dinner that, Lord willing, I will be hosting this year again. The only difference is I will be doing all the cooking and baking. It will be a challenge but with proper planning and strength from God I believe I can pull it off. I always pace myself, last minute rushing is not the way I choose to operate.
When the holidays get closer I almost revert back mentally to my childhood. I look forward to the holiday cartoons, movies and Christmas episodes on the shows I watch. This year I am sticking to a strict old fashioned Christmas being surrounded by my favorite things, no glitz and glamour just old fashioned colors and additives. I will have my two trees up as I did last year: one being my Jesus tree and the other a simple traditional tree. I collect Santas so you will see quite a few of them including childhood characters that I am fond of. There may also be a few vintage pieces scattered about as well. Red and green will be the primary colors and Jeffrey my 6 foot nutcracker will make his third Christmas appearance. He is the Christmas gatekeeper standing tall by my front door all lit up and shinning bright. You will also see several nativity displays as well after all JESUS is the REASON FOR THE SEASON.
In my Christmas group we are counting the days until Hallmarks Countdown to Christmas begins on the 16th of October even though most of us stream Christmas movies and cartoons all year round. It's just extra special and more exciting when we are actually in the season. I just finished watching Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol now I am watching the Christmas Gift with John Denver. The movie I was watching before Mr. Magoo was Holiday Affair with Janet Leigh and Robert Mitchum. It's 61 degrees and there is a Fall breeze coming through my front door. These are the days that I love more. You can almost smell that the holiday is near. Speaking of smells I have Harvest by Yankee Candle simmering in my wax warmer. It smells like spice with a hint of cinnamon. I love the clean Fall scent. LOL The one thing I miss most is traveling to my grandparents home in Maryland for the holiday. It was one of my favorite things to do. I tell you there is nothing like joy, family and food. If it snowed during our travels it would be the icing on the cake for me. My grandparents are no longer here and I thank God I still have my memories.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my stories. I hope you have a terrific weekend. I appreciate you all and hope you will return to read more in the future.
Happy Decorating!!!!!!!!!!!
