My Hymnal Board DIY Project

The reason why the word creative is a part of the title of my blog is sometimes you have to exercise yours when trying to bring a vision to life. I have had my eye on hymnal boards for a while but didn't want to pay the price for one. The type of board I wanted was in the price range of $200 or more. You might get the letters and numbers included when purchasing a board but most of the time not. They would be an additional purchase. One day while browsing on YouTube I saw a video where a woman used a perpetual calendar to create herself one which is what I did. I got me a Perpetual calendar off Ebay and some letters from Amazon. I removed the bar in between every two so there would be a gap big enough to put the hymn numbers. I sanded in between the two bars where the gap was left from me removing it. I grabbed a paint brush and some white chalk paint and painted the board white.

The adhesive numbers and letters are temporary because I ordered a set of vintage numbers and letters off Etsy. When they are delivered I will swap take the adhesive ones off and put the vintage ones in place of them. Cost for the board and letters $25 the vintage set I ordered from Etsy is $16 add those two together and $43 is the total of this project which is a far cry less than $200. Truthfully I am satisfied with the adhesive letters and numbers but I know it will take it to another level when exchanging them for the vintage set of numbers and letters.

I share all this with you to say you don't always have to break the bank in pursuit of having the right decorating accent in your home because sometimes you can make it yourself at a cheaper cost. All it takes is thought, patience, persistence, oh a few dollars. The end results will not only be that you saved in doing it yourself but the joy in the fact that you did it yourself.
